Blowing bubbles

If making the bubble mixture at home you will need:

  • A small plastic container or jar with lid
  • Tap water
  • Washing up liquid
  • Glycerine
  • Pipe cleaners
  • Or buy bubble mixture from a shop – they come supplied with a bubble wand.

To make the mixture:

In a jar or plastic container measure out the amounts of 3 parts water, 1 part washing up liquid and 1 part glycerine – mix well,

To make the bubble wand:

If using pipe cleaners, bend the  pipe cleaner into any shape you like, but make sure the shape makes a complete shape – circle, heart or star. You can use a small cookie cutter to make different shapes. This is something your child can help you do.

Best to do this activity outside in the park or garden. Dip the bubble wand into the mixture and encourage your child to blow gently until the bubble starts to form. Or you can blow lots of bubbles and let your child run and try to catch them.
