Building partnerships with parents is a crucial part of nursery life and the ideal candidate will be one who is open, caring and capable in building strong working relationships with the children, parents and staff.

The successful candidate will be working shift patterns between 7.30am and 6.30pm.

These posts involve working with children and is therefore exempt from the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974. You are required to declare any convictions or cautions that you may have, including those that would otherwise be regarded as ‘spent’ under this Act.

    Cook / Chef

    Hours:
    9am – 2pm, Monday – Friday.
    This is NOT a term-time position.

    Mallards Wood is a 50 placement nursery situated in Woodford Green IG8. With good transport links, the Nursery is an 8 minute walk from Woodford Green underground station and close to public transport stops for W14 and 275 buses.

    The Nursery looks after children from 3 months to 5 years old, with rooms catering for babies from 3 months – 2 years’ old, toddlers from 2 – 3 years’ old, and pre-school from 3 – 5 years’ old. Following the EYFS curriculum, all activities in rooms are planned around the children’s abilities and interest to ensure that each and every child achieves their maximum development potential whilst in our care.

    In our large garden, we have a vegetable garden in which the children grow the food that they eat and pick when ready for use in the weekly menu.

    Key main responsibilities:

    • Provide healthy balanced, nutritious freshly prepared meals and snacks in line with food safety regulations and Mallards Wood best practice guidelines.
    • Support the Management Team in planning menus which change three times per year in.
    • Order provisions on a weekly basis and maintain stock levels.
    • Maintain high hygiene standards in the kitchen, including regular high and low-level cleaning of surfaces and equipment.

    You must have:

    • Level 2 Food Safety & Hygiene (Desirable).
    • Excellent communication, organisational skills.
    • High Standards of personal hygiene.

    All positions are subject to an enhanced DBS Check and 2 suitable references.

    Level 3 Early Years Practitioner

    Responsibilities include:

    • Supporting children in their play, planning for children and tracking development against the EYFS;
    • Working as part of a team to ensure the smooth running of the room and fulfilling the personal care needs of the children; and
    • Work within the regulatory requirements, policies and procedures.


    Candidate Requirements:

    • Relevant Level 3 Childcare Qualification, or be training towards achieving this qualification;
    • A current DBS;
    • The right to work in the UK;
    • A minimum of 1 year's experience within an Early Years setting;
    • Excellent knowledge of the EYFS; and
    • Functional Skills English and Maths.

    Apprentice Level 3 Early Years Practitioner

    Responsibilities include:

    • Supporting children in their play, planning for children and tracking development against the EYFS;
    • Working as part of a team to ensure the smooth running of the room and fulfilling the personal care needs of the children; and
    • Work within the regulatory requirements, policies and procedures.

     

    Candidate Requirements:

    • NVQ L2 in Early Years Education & Care;
    • A current DBS;
    • The right to work in the UK;
    • Experience within an Early Years setting;
    • Excellent knowledge of the EYFS; and
    • Functional Skills English and Maths.
